Pura Vida Lanzarote practices eco diving to contribute, as a sport, to preserve our environment on the outside and below the water to continue to enjoy the wonders of nature in harmony.

Pura Vida is much more than a diving center, it is a philosophy based on respect for the natural, cultural and social environment, and the values of a community, you can enjoy a positive exchange of experiences, where the relationship between the tourist and the community is fair and benefits of the
activity are equaly distributed .
Covering two thirds of our planet, the oceans contain 80% of living organisms on earth. Half of the oxygen we breathe comes from the oceans, which likewise stabilize the climate and allows the movement of nutrient around the planet.
They regulate water and are essential for the production of fresh water and to absorb carbon. They also provide food and other resources, trade and migration routes. The list of threats is long: destructive fishing, waste dumping, oil and chemicals, use of submarines acoustic devices, military activity, invasion of alien species, climate change impacts, sand mining or construction material, exploitation of hydrocarbons, urban sprawl along the coast, are some of the examples.
In general, each year the plastic material which end up on the bottom of the sea killes a million sea birds, 100,000 marine mammals and countless fish! In the last decade an average of 600,000 barrels of oil has been accidentally spilled per year.
The populations of large fish such as tuna, cod and swordfish have declined to 90% in the last century. There is a real and tested threat on sharks. Annually a 100 million (270,000 per day) of sharks worldwide are killed and some species are endangered, if it gets to that , we would have severe consequences for life’s on the surface.

Monthly Beach Clean Up
On the first Saturday of March 2018 we started the beach and seabed cleaning project in the municipality of Yaiza. The idea was to generate a fixed periodicity where population and tourism will end up knowing that in Playa Blanca every first Saturday there are cleanings where to participate.
In 2018 & 2019 we celebrated 18 beach cleanings of which 10 were terrestrial and 8 were seabed.
With the satisfaction of having established a fixed date in the calendar of the south of the island to dedicate it to take care of our environment on the 2nd Saturday of each month.
The objectives that we set for this year are:
- Clean beaches and seabed.
- Create a space for collective action and relationship between public institutions, companies, local population and tourism.
- Sensitize the public administration itself, other companies, local population and the tourism that visits us.
- Work on the configuration of sustainable tourism in Lanzarote.

Rules of a Committed Diver
- It supports projects dedicated to marine protection, such as our monthly cleaning.
- If possible, collect trash on your dives, but only if doing so does not cause further damage to the environment.
- If possible, cut hanging ropes and collect nets and plastics.
- Never throw inorganic wastes into the sea: plastics decompose incredibly slowly
- Minimize your trash: use coffee cups and reusable lunch boxes, glass or metal bottles and shopping bags
- Do not feed or disturb marine animals
- Don’t take memories of the sea: broken coral pieces or empty snails still serve as useful habitates
