The Atlantic Museum<\/strong> has been conceived as a place for the preservation, conservation, and education of the marine environment and nature, an integral part of the system of human values.<\/p>\n

This is a latent message in the work of Jason deCaires Taylor<\/strong> and a call to defend the oceans <\/strong>that the artist projects in all his works.<\/p>\n

The museum project is creating a large artificial reef<\/strong> made up of a set of sculptural installations constructed from neutral pH concrete that, over time, will help increase marine biomass and facilitate the reproduction of the island's species.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n \n

The museum is located about 12\/14 meters deep<\/strong> in the clear waters<\/strong> near the southern coast of Lanzarote (just a few minutes from our Center), in the Bay of Las Coloradas, a site chosen mainly for the physical characteristics of the seabed, covering an area of 2,500 square meters<\/strong> that will be accessible to divers and snorkelers, and will become a focus of tourist and cultural interest.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n \n

Jason deCaires Taylor creates mysterious underwater worlds<\/strong> where art evolves as a consequence of nature's effects.<\/p>\n

In Greek mythology, the ocean was conceptualized as a metaphor for the origins of humanity, like embryonic water, where gods such as Zeus and Aphrodite<\/strong> were said to have been born.<\/p>\n

Human civilization<\/strong> has developed surrounded by two-thirds<\/strong> of a relatively unknown surface.<\/p>\n

In the context of the arts, this underwater world has been, until today, physically untouched, impossible to experience in its true nature, which is both fluid and intimate<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
