Las Cañas
Endless hiding spots to explore
Being able to dive in this labyrinth carved into the rock is a true privilege. Here we will find passages, caves with large columns and multiple exits, arches, and rocky walls draped in a colorful blanket of algae that hosts an oasis of life.
Schools of anchovies, bogas, and trumpet fish play hide and seek in the nooks and caves while swimming harmoniously to the sound of the waves’ murmur.
There are few occasions when the sea allows diving in this area, which is why it perhaps reserves especially magical moments for us to experience it.
In this dive, it is best to go with someone who knows the area, as the route presents some complexity and it is relatively easy to get disoriented.
Additionally, visibility may not be very good since it is an area of strong currents and shallow depth. Here, we can see gorgonians, groupers, barracudas, black sea bass, snappers, and many more species.
It is important to plan this dive in advance, ensuring that the oceanographic and weather conditions are suitable.
It is a spectacular place, although very shallow, so the current and swell greatly affect it, making it advisable to go only on days with optimal forecasts.
