Nitrox is the key: Due to the reduced fraction of nitrogen in the gas you breathe, your body will work less, and the saturation times will decrease.
The Enriched Air Nitrox program will teach you how to safely plan and dive with enriched air mixes containing up to 40% oxygen. Diving with enriched air can extend your no-decompression limits, increase your safety, and reduce the surface interval time needed compared to air. You will receive the SSI Enriched Air Nitrox 32% or 40% certification upon completion of this program.
The course includes online learning and a theoretical session in class.

You will also learn about the limitations of nitrox diving to ensure proper planning along with the correct analysis of the oxygen percentage in the tank.
You will use the total diving system equipment that you have already used in previous courses, such as the Open Water Diver. Additionally, you will use the analyzer to assess the oxygen percentage in the tank.
If you choose to do the dives, you will enjoy them from a boat in Playa Blanca. You will be able to see the significant difference in bottom time when using nitrox for boat dives (dives that have a more square dive profile).
If you already have your Open Water Diver certification, have dived in the last year, and your medical condition has not changed since your Open Water Diver certification (you have no medical issues that are incompatible with diving), we can accommodate you. Ideally, you should book your course at least 1 week in advance to be able to read the course manual. *It is necessary to wait a minimum of 24 hours after completing your dives before traveling off the island.
