The Marina of Arrecife

An impressive reef that gives its name to the capital

The capital of Lanzarote features a very attractive coastline, equipped with numerous bridges and walkways that traverse its extensive reef.

This rocky barrier, once very dangerous for navigation, is now the shelter of a city that bears its name, Arrecife.

It is a unique space in the Canary Islands, both for its landscape and for the life that inhabits it.

The marina hides species that are not found in other places in the archipelago, such as a seagrass known as “Zostera noltii” and several invertebrates, making this environment of extreme biological and scientific importance.

Playa del Reducto is a good place to become familiar with the marine life of the island. Inside the reef, calm water lagoons form, ideal for starting snorkeling, with access from the shore.

It’s a different way to spend a relaxing day at the beach.
