This is one of the most famous dives in Puerto del Carmen, perhaps due to the adventure component it offers. The Blue Hole is a tunnel that connects the shallow sandy area with the wall that descends to dizzying depths.
In this dive, you can observe almost any animal; from seahorses hiding among the seabed, rays, and large skates to majestic manta rays, as some lucky individuals have experienced. It is undoubtedly a dive that deserves to be repeated.
The most common way to perform this dive is from the shore. Entering through the steps of the small dock at Playa Chica, you will traverse the shallow area always filled with schools of fish.
From there, you descend through the large submerged dunes, crossing the garden eel field, until reaching the entrance of the Blue Hole, a small tunnel with a short distance and much charm as you enter the sand and emerge into open waters.
In the wall, there are several interesting caves and hollows to search for life, from swarms of nargile shrimp to small orange corals and a great diversity of fish. This is also an ideal spot for observing pelagics, so it’s wise not to lose sight of the blue
